What this policy covers
This policy explains what information Shield Fireproofing collects through this website, why we collect it, who else handles it, and how long we keep it. It applies to www.shieldfireproofing.com only. There are two forms on this site — a bid request and an employment application — and they are treated differently, so each is described separately below.
When you contact us about a project
The bid request form asks for:
- Your name and company name
- Your email address and phone number
- The project location, if you provide it
- What your inquiry is about, and whatever you write in the message field
We use it to respond to your inquiry and, where relevant, to prepare a bid. We do not sell it, rent it, or share it with anyone outside our company for marketing.
When you apply for a job
The employment application asks for considerably more, because hiring requires it. It collects:
- Contact and identity: your name, home address, phone number and email address
- Eligibility: whether you are 18 or older, and whether you are legally eligible to work in the United States
- The role: the position you are applying for, your desired start date, your pay expectation, whether you are willing to travel, and how you heard about us
- Background: your education, your work history including previous employers, job titles, dates and reasons for leaving, your certifications and skills
- Driving: whether you hold a valid driver’s license, the state that issued it, and its class (Class A, B, C or CDL)
- Your resume, if you choose to attach one — this is optional
We use this information to assess your application, to contact you about it, and to keep the hiring records employment regulations require us to keep. We do not sell it, share it with other employers, or use it for marketing.
What we deliberately do not ask for
This application does not ask for your Social Security number, your date of birth, your bank details, or your criminal history, and you should not send any of those through this website. Where a role requires information of that kind, we collect it after a conditional offer, in person — not through a public web form.
Information collected automatically
Our web host records standard server logs — IP address, browser type, pages requested, and time of request — as a normal part of serving the site and protecting it from abuse. This site does not use advertising or analytics cookies, and it does not track you across other websites.
Who else handles this information
The site is hosted by Netlify, which also receives and stores what you submit through both forms before it reaches us, including any resume you attach. Netlify processes this data on our behalf under its own terms and is not permitted to use it for its own purposes. From there, submissions are emailed to our company inbox, which is handled by our email provider.
We may share your information where we are legally required to — for example in response to a lawful request from a government body — and with professional advisers where necessary. Otherwise it stays with us.
Who at Shield can see it
Bid requests are seen by the people who prepare and respond to bids. Employment applications are seen by the people involved in hiring for the role you applied for. We limit access to those who need it to do their job.
How long we keep it
- Bid requests: as long as needed to respond and to maintain records of bids and project correspondence.
- Employment applications: at least one year from the date we receive them, because federal equal-employment recordkeeping rules require it. We may keep them longer so we can consider you for future openings; tell us if you would rather we didn’t.
Your choices
You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email info@shieldfireproofing.com and we will respond. One limit worth stating plainly: where the law requires us to retain a record — job applications being the main example — we will keep it for as long as we are required to, and delete it after that.
Applying for a job with us is voluntary, and so is every optional field on the application. If you would rather apply on paper, the same application is available as a PDF on our careers page, or you can bring one by the shop.
Consent
Both forms ask you to tick a box before you send them. On the bid request that box records your agreement to this policy and your permission for us to contact you about your inquiry; on the application it records that the information you have given is true and complete. We keep a record of that tick alongside your submission. You can withdraw permission to be contacted at any time by emailing info@shieldfireproofing.com.
Equal opportunity
Shield Fireproofing is an equal opportunity employer. We do not use the information collected through the application to discriminate against any applicant. If you need an accommodation to complete an application, call us at 513.617.3565 and we will find a way that works.
Children
This site is intended for business and employment use and is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Applicants under 18 may apply where the role and the law allow it — Ohio requires a minor work permit — and we handle those applications the same way as any other.
Security
This site is served over HTTPS, and form submissions are encrypted in transit. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect the information you send us.
Changes to this policy
If we change how this site handles information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
